Can’t we just mind our own business

On the eve of Eid-ul-joha, I sit to pen down my thoughts that has been disturbing me since quite sometime. Eid-ul-joha, also called the Feast of the Sacrifice, is celebrated to honor the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his promised son Ishmael as an act of submission to God's command, before God then intervened to provide Abraham with a lamb to sacrifice instead. And since then every year Muslims offer goats and cows to maintain this ritual. The other day a close friend of mine was speaking against this practice, according to him Muslims are the most heartless people on earth because they scarifies cows which is regarded as a Deity by them (Hindus). He told me that Muslims preserve the blood of the sacrificed cow and prepare some kind of dish with it, now this fact came as a shock to me. All my life I heard that Muslims eat Halal meat because they are forbidden to consume the blood of animals which according to Quran Sharif is ‘Haram’. My dear friend enlightened me with his treasure of knowledge. According to him, all the terrorists on this earth are Muslims, because they are hot blooded (let me remind you Muslims drink the blood of sacrificed animals) and they can slit your throat at the wink of an eye. “Sacrificing a cow is a big crime and the government should take strict actions against them” this is what he told me. Now I was wondering, if sacrificing a cow is a big crime then what would be the punishment for sacrificing a buffalos? Be it Durga Puja or Kali Puja animal sacrifice is still prevalent in many parts of India, often masquerading in the guise of Hindu worship. Innocent animals are sacrificed so that Hindus may appease whatever particular god or goddess they wish to. These Buffalos, goats, ducks and other animals which are butchered doesn’t even get a chance to realize that their sacrifice brings so much goodness to their masters. And above all how can the killing of innocent animals please a god or goddess? And if it is true then I condemn such a supernatural being. No god or goddess would ever like to see his/her creation getting slaughtered at his/her feet, if it ever exists. Now if I start debating on this with my dear friend he would give me numerous illogical points which would give more weight to the sacrificing of animals by Hindus than Muslims. With the intention not to get myself into a useless debate, I thought I would rather pen it down for my readers. Is killing a buffalo or a goat for that matter any lesser crime than killing a cow? Hindus doesn’t even spare snakes, pigs, camels, deer, elephants (name any animal and they can get it to your dishes) to delight their taste buds. Then where on earth did they get the right to talk about Muslim rituals? A community consists of both good and bad people, if ISIS is made up of Muslims them then there a Hindus who slaughter their wives into pieces and store it in their refrigerators for weeks until their deeds come into light. Wouldn’t it be a better place to live in if we just stop rebuking each other and leave the innocent animals to enjoy their days on earth? The gods would be more pleased if instead of killing, we feed a starving animal or give them some water to quench their thirst in this scorching heat, don’t you think so?

P.S. I am a child of a Hindu parent, born and brought up in a Hindu family. No offence intended with this blog.
